Q. Thank you for the information regarding Raynaud"s Disease. I have had the cold hands syndrome for years and now I finally know what causes it. It happens when I go into a market.
Q. IS THIS SEROUOUS AND IF SO SHOULD I SEE A DOCTOR?
I think you are great.
Thanks again,
-
A. Raynaud's is common - and only rarely is is associated with other autoimmune diseases. You would know by now if you had other problems such as arthritis, trouble swallowing, problems with your fingers (something like scleroderma)....If you are able to function by wearing warm mittens/gloves and don't have a job taking you outside for long periods in cold weather - there is nothing to do or even worry about.
Many women have this and barely think to mention it to their physicians. On the other hand, some women really do have severe episodes and in that case - a prescription for nifedipine/a calcium blocker to prevent episodes - could help.
Best of luck to you,
-
