Dr. Savard is a frequent speaker and spokesperson on behalf of a wide array of health issues, featured in print, radio and television for ABC News.
In addition to providing commentary for ABC News, she continually provides up-to-date and empowering health information through her website, newsletters and a regular blog on the health page of ABC News and her website www.DrSavard.com titled, Dr.Marie's Healthy Dose. She has been asked hundreds of questions in the past few years on a wide array of topics of impact and interest to everyone. It is her comprehensive and compassionate and sometimes humorous responses to these universal questions that are the subject of her current book project. Her responses not only inform, they challenge people to take charge of their health and make the best decisions for themselves and for their family. It is Dr. Savard's ability to recognize what people need to know and then clearly and simply inspire them to take specific action that makes sense for their circumstances that has given her the ability to help countless people.
Dr. Savard earned both a Bachelor of Science degree in nursing and a medical degree at the University of Pennsylvania. She was director of the Center for Women's Health at the Medical College of Pennsylvania, technical advisor to the United Nations' Fourth World Conference on Women in Beijing, advisor to the American Board of Internal Medicine Subcommittee on Clinical Competency in Women's Health, health columnist for Woman's Day magazine and senior medical consultant to Lifetime Television's Strong Medicine.
In addition to her work as a regular medical contributor for ABC News and her medical care of the religious sisters in Philadelphia, Dr. Savard is a member of the Board of Trustees of the University of Pennsylvania and of the Board of Overseers of the School of Nursing. She is a member of the public policy advisory board of the Susan B. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, Trustee of the College of Physicians and chair of the PhillyHealthInfo.org Advisory Board, and member of the Family Circle and Popsmear.org Advisory Board. She lives in the Philadelphia area with her physician husband. She has three grown sons.
