Dr. Marie Savard developed the idea for The Savard System out of her own experiences, first as a nurse and then as a physician. After receiving her M.D. degree from the University of Pennsylvania, Dr. Savard began her career as a family doctor. During her three decades of practicing medicine, she has observed an increasingly complex health-care system that struggles to track patients as they move, travel and see a number of specialists. When Dr. Savard shifted from a solo practice to a group practice, caring for each patient became more challenging as her "panel" of patients grew to well over one thousand. She understood that today's doctors couldn't possibly hold all of the details of their patients' medical histories in their heads -- and that the current record-keeping system wasn't always adequate. Dr. Savard realized that active patient participation was essential to achieving a higher level of health-care for everyone.

To help everyone get the best possible care, Dr. Savard has created The Savard System, which includes two books, How to Save Your Own Life and The Savard Health Record, as well as DrSavard.com.

Dr. Savard is an internationally recognized internist and a frequent legal expert in medical malpractice cases. She was the Director of The Center for Women's Health and Associate Professor at the Medical College of Pennsylvania/Hahnemann University. She also served as a member of the American Board of Internal Medicine Subcommittee on Clinical Competency in Women's Health. Dr. Savard was the technical advisor to the World Health Organization's United Nations Fourth World Conference on Women (Beijing) and a Woman's Day magazine columnist. She has been recognized as a Philadelphia magazine "Top Doctor" since the 1980s.

Dr. Savard lives in Pennsylvania with her husband, Dr. Bradley Fenton, and three sons.
